Welcome to Words of Cayr Cymru

Your Words of Cayr kit and what to do

In your kits you have your Sewn Word kit and a self-guided poetry workbook.

Your Sewn Word kit contains a piece of white linen and two pieces of silk organza. Emily’s video tutorial below will guide you through the process of creating your Sewn Word using these fabrics. You will also need scissors, a needle and sewing thread, also a pencil if you choose to use one.

For the poetry workbook, you will only need a pen, some time and preferably a quiet space. If you have attended a poetry workshop already, your kit will not include a poetry workbook as you have already completed the activities, but you please use the templates & resources from the workshop to continue creating your own poems.

When you have created your Sewn Word and your poems, they are yours to keep. As you will see in your workbook, you have the option to contribute to a larger piece of work through the communal “I Am, We Are” poem, but this is optional. You can also send your Sewn Word to us at Cayr to become part of a larger piece of artwork that we are still developing. You can do this by posting your art to us or by sending us photos of your finished word. If you would like more information on this, please email lilly@cayrcharity.org.uk.
